Barangaroo Parking Guide: Where to Park Near Barangaroo and Walsh Bay

Three car parks cover the whole Barangaroo and Walsh Bay strip, and all three sit on or just off Hickson Road: Bond One at 26 Hickson Road, Barangaroo Point at 25B Hickson Road, and Barangaroo Reserve at 5 Towns Place. Book the night rate online before you leave home and you will pay a fraction of the drive up hourly rate.

Below is each car park with its entry, hours and height clearance, the one booking move that saves the most money, where the metered street parking is, and when the metro beats driving. Rates and hours were checked in October 2026, and both change, so confirm on the car park operator's official website before you drive in.

The Three Car Parks

Car park Entry Hours Height limit Closest to
Bond One 26 Hickson Road 6am to midnight, 7 days 2.05m Walsh Bay piers and Sydney Theatre Company
Barangaroo Point 25B Hickson Road Mon to Thu 5am to midnight, Fri 5am to 1am, Sat 9am to 1am, Sun and public holidays 10am to 9:30pm 2.10m The middle of the strip, between both precincts
Barangaroo Reserve 5 Towns Place 6am to midnight, 7 days 2.20m Barangaroo Reserve and the headland park

All three are run by the same operator, so the booking process is identical across them. Opening hours, height limits and rates are all set by the operator and can change without notice, so check the official car park website for the current rate and hours on the day you are going.

The One Move That Saves the Most

Driving up and paying hourly in this part of the city is expensive. At Bond One and Barangaroo Point, the drive up rate runs from about $15 for the first hour to around $60 once you pass three hours.

Prepaying a night rate online instead, for entry after 5pm on a weekday, costs somewhere in the mid teens to about $20. For a dinner that runs three hours, that is the difference between a parking bill the size of a main course and one the size of a side.

Weekend prepaid rates sit in the low to mid twenties. Early Bird parking is no longer offered at any of the three, so there is no cheap all day option left here on a weekday.

Two things worth knowing about prepaid bookings. They allow one entry and one exit, not in and out access. And they do not reserve a specific bay, so arriving in the last ten minutes before a show still means circling.

Height Limits Matter Here

These are underground car parks with genuinely low ceilings. Bond One is the tightest at 2.05 metres, Barangaroo Point allows 2.10 metres, and Barangaroo Reserve is the most forgiving at 2.20 metres.

If you are in a large four wheel drive, a van, or anything with a roof box or bikes on top, Barangaroo Reserve is the one to aim for. Measure before you commit, because reversing out of a ramp queue on a Saturday night is nobody's idea of a good start to dinner.

Street Parking on Hickson Road

Hickson Road has metered street parking, charged under City of Sydney rates, and it is the cheapest option when you can find a space. The catch is that you rarely can. Theatre nights at the Walsh Bay piers and events at Barangaroo clear the kerb well before the start time.

A few rules to save a fine. Read the sign above the bay rather than the one further down the block, because time limits change street by street. Pay by app or meter before you walk away. And do not park on the pier aprons at Walsh Bay; they are not public parking, and vehicle access there is controlled.

If you are circling for more than ten minutes, you are already behind where you would have been using a car park.

When Not to Drive

This precinct is unusually well served by public transport, and for a Friday or Saturday night it is the better call.

  • Metro: Barangaroo station sits under the northern end of Hickson Road, which puts you a few minutes from the Barangaroo waterfront and about 700 metres from the Walsh Bay piers.
  • Train: Wynyard is roughly a four minute walk via the Wynyard Walk tunnel, which avoids crossing city traffic altogether.
  • Bus: Routes 324 and 325 run from the CBD through to Walsh Bay, roughly every 20 minutes outside peak.
  • Night bus: Route 998 runs between Hickson Road and Town Hall from 9pm to 4:30am on Friday and Saturday nights, every half hour, with a stop outside Pier 4/5.
  • Ferry: The F3 and F4 services stop at Barangaroo Wharf.
  • Taxi: Taxis run along Hickson Road and can pick up and drop off there. Drop offs at Barangaroo also work along Barangaroo Avenue.

Circular Quay is a 15 to 20 minute walk from Walsh Bay, which is pleasant in daylight and along the water, and less appealing in the rain.

Parking for Dinner at the Walsh Bay Piers

If you are heading to the piers, Bond One at 26 Hickson Road is the closest of the three and sits beside the Sydney Theatre Company. Barangaroo Point at 25B Hickson Road is the next one along and barely further on foot.

Elements Bar & Grill Walsh Bay is on Pier 8/9 at 23 Hickson Road, so both of those car parks are a short walk from the door, and the night rate covers a full dinner.

Oysters, charcoal grilled steak and share plates sit on the a la carte menu, and a 7pm table pairs neatly with a post 5pm prepaid entry.

For the official precinct detail on transport and access, the Barangaroo getting here page is the source to check before an event day.

Parking Near the Opera House Instead

If your night is at the other end of the harbour, the car parks above are the wrong ones, and the guide to parking near the Sydney Opera House covers that side, including the cheaper alternatives to the Opera House car park itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I park in Barangaroo?

Three car parks serve the precinct: Barangaroo Reserve at 5 Towns Place, Barangaroo Point at 25B Hickson Road, and Bond One at 26 Hickson Road. All are underground and all are on or just off Hickson Road.

Is there parking under Barangaroo Reserve?

Yes. The Barangaroo Reserve car park is beneath the headland park, with entry via 5 Towns Place, open 6am to midnight seven days.

What is the cheapest way to park in Barangaroo at night?

Prepay a night rate online for entry after 5pm. It costs a fraction of the drive up hourly rate, which climbs steeply after the first hour. Check the operator's website for the current night rate, since it varies with demand.

Is there a height limit in the Barangaroo car parks?

Yes, and they are low. Bond One allows 2.05 metres, Barangaroo Point 2.10 metres and Barangaroo Reserve 2.20 metres.

Can I park on the street at Walsh Bay?

Hickson Road has metered street parking under City of Sydney rates, although spaces are scarce around theatre and event times. The pier aprons are not public parking.

How far is Barangaroo metro station from the Walsh Bay piers?

About 700 metres, which is a walk of roughly ten minutes along Hickson Road.

Do prepaid car park bookings reserve a space?

No. A prepaid booking covers one entry and one exit at a set rate, but it does not hold a bay, so allow time at busy periods.

Before You Go

Car park rates, opening hours and height limits in this precinct are set by the operators, not by us, and they change from time to time. Every figure above is indicative and was correct when this guide was written. Always check the operator's official website, or the City of Sydney website for metered street parking, for current rates and conditions before you set out.
